United and Tchouameni: What’s been said?It comes after reports suggested the Red Devils were considering a move for Tchouameni ahead of their midfield overhaul this summer.
With at least one marquee signing anticipated in M16, it goes without saying that the majority of fans would’ve jumped at the prospect of adding the highly-regarded Frenchman to the squad ahead of 2026/2027.
Aurélien Tchouaméni has won 66.7% of his ground duels and 73.8% of his aerial duels in La Liga this season, the highest rates of any midfielder with 2K minutes.

However, as is the case for countless young players being targeted by Premier League sides, the then-22-year-old favoured the European giants, and eventually put pen to paper on a six-year deal in the Spanish capital.

Tchouameni ‘appreciated’ by United, but no talks have taken placeWhen addressing the speculation, Romano told viewers that, for now, it’s relatively ‘useless’ to keep addressing each link to a midfielder, as United are doing their due diligence in the lead-up to the window and extensively scouring the market to find players who they believe could be a perfect fit at Old Trafford.
“Just to be clear, I told you that Man United will go for two midfielders in the summer. Let’s see if it will be more, but for now, the indication is two. Man United want to sign important names, not small names. So, for sure, Man United are considering several midfielders,” began Romano.
“There are some players they really appreciate; Elliot Anderson, I’ve already mentioned, Sandro Tonali as well. There are some that they really like.
“Tchouameni is, for sure, appreciated. But at the moment, from Real Madrid, they are not receiving any indication of doors [being] open for a potential exit in summer.”
