“No chance” – Fabrizio Romano confirms struggling star won’t earn new Man Utd contract

Manchester United have made their stance clear regarding Jadon Sancho, who will be shown the door once his current deal expires.

The Red Devils splashed £73 million to buy the Englishman from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021. But unfortunately for the 25-year-old, he is now regarded as one of the worst signings in the club’s history.

The winger spent two and a half tumultuous years at Carrington, marred by disappointing performances on the pitch and spats with the technical staff (mainly Erik ten Hag).

Jadon Sancho failing to impress at Aston Villa

Over the past two years, Sando has been away on loan. Following a brief second stint at Dortmund, he joined Chelsea in the summer of 2024, but the West Londoners preferred to pay a £5 million penalty to relieve themselves from the obligation to buy him.

The London native signed for Aston Villa in August. While the team is currently flying under Unai Emery, having won their last 11 contests, Sancho has already been reduced to a forgotten figure. He has made 14 appearances in all competitions, but has yet to start a Premier League match.

Interestingly, Sancho was hauled off after 45 minutes against Man City, despite entering the match as a substitute in the 30th minute.

At this stage, the Villans are highly unlikely to exercise their option to keep the player beyond the current campaign. Some reports even claimed that the Europa League club is looking to terminate Sancho’s contract as early as January, although they remain unconfirmed.

But while his previous loan experiences ended with a return to Man Utd, Fabrizio Romano believes that this chapter has already expired.

Man United happy to see Sancho leave as a free agent

As the Italian journalist confirms, Sancho’s contract with United will expire at the end of the season, and although it includes an option for another year, INEOS have already decided against activating it.

Romano reveals that the Red Devils prefer to part ways with Sancho at the end of the season, even if it means losing him on a free transfer.

Sancho’s stats in 25/26 Appearances Goals Assists Premier League 8 0 0 Europa League 5 0 0 Caraboa Cup 1 0 0

This is hardly surprising, as at this stage, the costs of keeping the England international could exceed his market value, especially based on his underwhelming performances and the unsavoury reputation he earned himself over the years.
