Manchester United have confirmed their squad numbers for the 2026/27 season, with Marcus Rashford set to wear the No.9 shirt following his return to the club.

Rashford wore the No.9 during United’s friendly against AC Milan last weekend, although the club initially described the number as provisional. It has now been submitted to the Premier League. The shirt became available after Rasmus Hojlund completed his transfer to Napoli, according to FootballTransfers.

Rashford previously wore No.10 at Old Trafford, but that number now belongs to summer signing Matheus Cunha.

Rashford’s future at United remains uncertain while the summer transfer window is open. He has two years remaining on his contract, reportedly worth £325,000 per week, and has not played a competitive match for the club since December 2024.

Manager Michael Carrick has spoken positively about the forward since his return. Carrick said Rashford is a very good player who can offer the group a great deal, adding that the club is in a positive place and that Rashford’s contribution is an exciting prospect.

The No.9 shirt has been worn by notable forwards including Andy Cole, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Dimitar Berbatov during the Premier League era. Rashford will now wear the number for United in the 2026/27 campaign.
